Malaysia EV Tech 2023: Paving The Way for Malaysia’s Electric Future

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 NOVEMBER 2023 – NanoMalaysia Berhad today organised the Electric Vehicle (EV) conference, Malaysia EV Tech 2023, at Sunway Putra Hotel.

Malaysia EV Tech 2023, held under the theme “Technology Sovereignty in EV Tech Development,” underscores the nation’s resolute commitment to advancing its electric vehicle (EV) sector. The event sheds light on the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Government of Malaysia’s efforts to enhance EV technology, infrastructure, and the overall ecosystem, aiming to position Malaysia as a powerhouse in EV innovation and development.

The conference, a melting pot of ideas, insights, and innovations, gathered experts, policymakers, industry leaders, and EV enthusiasts. Its eight dedicated sessions, led by distinguished figures from the local EV industry, and two interactive forums facilitated discussions on the roadmap for EV technology and sustainable mobility in the country and region.

In his keynote address, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation YB Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup highlighted Malaysia’s pioneering efforts in EV technology, emphasizing the development of cutting-edge technologies such as energy storage and management systems, the Internet of Nano-Things, off-grid green charging stations, and the creation of EV prototypes.

NanoMalaysia CEO Dr. Rezal Khairi Ahmad outlined Malaysia’s strategic shift towards becoming a leading exporter of EV components in the region, focusing on the manufacturing of crucial EV components. He emphasized the Enabling Mobility Electrification for Green Economy (EMERGE) program, concentrating on battery cell technology, energy management, and battery cooling systems.

Malaysia EV Tech covered a comprehensive view of the EV ecosystem, including industry affiliations and regulatory frameworks driving Malaysia’s shift to electric. Attendees were introduced to the latest EV technology through engaging presentations, interactive sessions, and exhibitions.

The event addressed crucial topics related to EVs, such as advancements in EV batteries, developments in charging infrastructure, strategies for localizing the EV supply chain, and the current policy framework and incentives. Discussions also touched on intelligent mobility solutions, sustainable energy sources, local innovations in EV technology, and regulatory challenges in the sector.

Aligned with the PRECISE initiative introduced by MOSTI, Malaysia EV Tech promotes the culture of Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI), encouraging the development of homegrown technology. Protemp Group and NanoMalaysia Berhad organized Malaysia EV Tech 2023, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovations (MOSTI).

Additionally, Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) announced the soft launch of the MTE 2023 Sustainable Energy and Green Technology Awards. Set to take place virtually from 19-21 December 2023, this event is held in conjunction with the International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Green Technology 2023 in Vietnam. The awards aim to spotlight exceptional strides in sustainable energy and green technology, fostering a greener and more sustainable future.
