The Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE) 2024 concluded on a high note, marking another milestone in its illustrious journey of fostering innovation, collaboration, and technological advancement. Held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur from 22-24 February, the expo, which is in its 23rd year, was a three-day event from February 22 to 24 which saw over 3,352 visitors, onsite and virtual, including first-time participants from Russia and Hungary.

In a significant demonstration of governmental support for advancing technology and innovation in Malaysia, MTE 2024 received robust backing from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and the Ministry of Higher Education.

Furthermore, the event has garnered widespread acclaim and support from a distinguished array of international inventors and innovators associations, underscoring its global relevance and the collaborative spirit that drives the pursuit of excellence in the realm of science and technology. This confluence of local and international backing not only elevates the status but also cements its role as a pivotal platform for showcasing groundbreaking inventions and facilitating meaningful exchanges among the brightest minds in the global innovation ecosystem.

The expo’s grand inauguration was graced by YB Chang Lih Kang, the esteemed Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, who heralded MTE 2024 as a pivotal force for sparking further innovation and technological advancement within the nation. Minister Chang Lih Kang articulated a compelling vision for the expo, highlighting the collaborative effort between MOSTI and the PROTEMP Group as a prime example of the government’s commitment to overcoming challenges through unity, leveraging collective wisdom, strengths, and creative prowess.

The minister’s inspiring message was conveyed on his behalf by the Secretary-General of MOSTI, Datuk Dr. Aminuddin Hassim, underscoring the significance of the event and the high-level endorsement it has garnered.

MTE 2024 reached its zenith with the highly acclaimed Innovation Awards, unveiling an unparalleled collection of 367 pioneering entries from across the globe, including China, Indonesia, Iran, Hong Kong, Poland, and beyond. This showcase not only set a new standard for diversity and brilliance in technology and innovation but also celebrated the extraordinary talents and groundbreaking contributions of participants. The awards, comprising the International Innovation Awards (IIA), Asian Youth Innovation Awards (AYIA), and Public Service Innovation Asia (PSIA), honored recipients with 125 Gold, 133 Silver, and 109 Bronze medals, underscoring the exceptional quality and innovative spirit of the submissions. Furthermore, select participants received special recognition from the event’s esteemed supporting partners, an illustrious alliance of global inventors and innovators associations, spotlighting their remarkable achievements and fostering a community of forward-thinking pioneers.

Among the esteemed partners were the International Federation of Inventors’ Association from Switzerland, Chinese Innovation & Invention Society from Taiwan, Japan Intellectual Property Association, Indonesian Invention and Innovation Promotion Association (INNOPA), National Research Council Thailand, among others, all contributing to a rich ecosystem of support and collaboration.

The “Hong Kong Pavilion” at the Malaysia Technology Expo 2024, supported by the Trade and Industrial Organisation Support Fund of the Hong Kong Trade and Industry Department and organized by the Hong Kong Software Industry Association, made a significant impact with its debut. Showcasing over 20 innovative products, solutions, and services, it highlighted the creativity and achievements of Hong Kong’s ICT industry, fostering exchanges between Hong Kong and global tech professionals. Distinguished guests, including Ms. Denise Ang, Ms. Joey Lam, and Mr. John Li, alongside Mr. Kenny Chien, marked the pavilion’s inauguration, emphasizing Hong Kong’s position as “Asia’s ICT Hub.”

This event was a part of the “Promotion of Hong Kong Outstanding Information and Communication Technology Industries in the ASEAN Markets” project, drawing global acclaim for the innovative and competitive edge of Hong Kong’s ICT offerings. The pavilion not only showcased technological advancements but also facilitated networking opportunities for Hong Kong entrepreneurs and startups with industry buyers and professionals worldwide.

The expo also featured an enriching series of Tech Talks, where pioneers and experts shared insights into the latest trends and technologies. These sessions fostered a spirit of learning and exchange, contributing to the ongoing dialogue about the future of technology.
